When Transport Manager Anne-Lise joined the company 11 years ago, she quickly recognised that modernisation was essential.

About JGM Transport
Based in County Louth, Ireland, JGM Transport was founded in 1993 by Gerry and Monica Mackin. Today, the business operates alongside Gerard Mackin Transport, with both companies working seamlessly as one group across the island of Ireland.
With a fleet of approximately 45 vehicles including trailers, JGM specialises in bulk and full-load haulage, transporting goods such as animal feeds, salt, biomass, cereals (for animal and human consumption), and various other bulk materials.

Before Eureka: “The diary was the Bible”
When Anne-Lise Pineau, the company’s Transport Manager, joined the business, planning was entirely manual.
“There was no system. It was purely manual. The diary was the Bible – and that was it,” explains Anne-Lise.
Orders were written into a physical diary. Each evening, Gerry would text drivers their jobs for the following day, manually crossing off PO numbers as he went.
“At 9 or 10 o’clock at night, Gerry would text the drivers their work for the next day. The PO numbers were written at the bottom of the diary and he would cross them off as he texted them.”
Drivers would then complete paperwork manually, which was returned weekly for office staff to re-enter into the system for invoicing.
“There were three jobs being done three times. Gerry was sending the loads, the driver was writing the loads, and then someone in the office was putting them into the system to invoice,” recalls Anne-Lise.
While a temporary move to spreadsheets improved visibility, duplication and inefficiencies remained.
“It did improve things, but it wasn’t cutting the duplication that was happening. We needed something different.”
Choosing Eureka: “It was what we needed”

“You can adjust whatever columns you want to see. I only need five or six columns – that’s all I need.”

“Eureka cuts out the duplication of work and admin.”
“There’s only one person creating the load now – and then it’s dispatched and invoiced.”
Eureka also flags duplicate order numbers, reducing billing errors.
“It picks it up straight away. It flags it if the order number has already been used. That helped us cut mistakes.”
For customers, this meant fewer invoice corrections – and a more professional service.
A Game-Changer for Driver Communication
The introduction of the Driver Portal was described as a turning point, to improve their communication between their office and their drivers.
Before Eureka, job information was shared via text messages and WhatsApp.
“When you’re texting 17 drivers what to do, you’re going to make a mistake.”
Now, drivers receive and update jobs through the browser-based portal on their mobiles.
“That was the game changer, really. They log in, see their jobs, upload their PODs, and update their status.”
Even drivers who were initially tech-hesitant adapted quickly.
“Some of them wouldn’t have been very phone-friendly – but they picked it up very quickly.”
“We tell new drivers, give it two or three days, and you’ll pick it up no bother. There’s never an issue.”

“If we didn’t have TASCC, we wouldn’t have the customers we have now, it is so important for us to work within this sector.”

“We need to keep a record of the last three loads. When the auditor comes, they pick random trailers and ask for the history.”
“Before Eureka, this involved extensive paperwork. We used to have tonnes of paperwork, it made the process so long-winded and convoluted.”
Now, trailer history is instantly accessible within the system.
“The traceability is very important – and that’s great.”
“We go onto the Eureka system and it’s all there, ready for us. The time-savings have been amazing for us.”
