A Family Business with Decades of Experience
Mangan Haulage is a long-established, family-run business with deep roots in the Irish haulage sector. Founded in the 1950s by Joe Mangan with a single cattle truck, the company has grown into one of Ireland’s leading providers of container transport.
Today, under the leadership of Joe’s son Francis, Mangan Haulage operates a modern fleet equipped with GPS and CCTV, providing reliable and efficient services to both national and international customers. With highly skilled drivers and additional operations at Dublin Port, the company prides itself on reliability, on-time deliveries, and excellent customer service.

The business specialises in container haulage, which accounts for around 90% of its work. Containers imported into Ireland carry a wide variety of goods – from electronics and machinery to clothing, food, and beverages. Exports range from pharmaceuticals and milk powder to seafood and drinks.
Alongside container transport, the company also undertakes flatbed and curtainsider work, moving steel, machinery, windows, and doors. With a Megalift side-loader trailer, Mangan Haulage can lift containers directly onto the ground, making loading and unloading simple and efficient.
Overseeing the daily operations is Roman Lacina, Operations Manager, who ensures that everything runs smoothly.
“My job is to make sure the day-to-day business activities run efficiently and profitably. I deal with our planners, drivers, customers, and suppliers – and if I’m not in the office, I’m usually in the yard with a phone to my ear, sorting something out!”
Moving from Manual Diaries to Digital
Mangan Haulage has been a Eureka customer for around 10 years, making use of both the MoveIT Transport Management System (TMS) and MaintainIT fleet maintenance software, with additional Telegram integration.
Before working with Eureka, the team relied on traditional paper diaries. For Roman and his colleagues, this brought constant frustrations.
“As all the jobs were in a diary, it was very hard to go back and search for jobs completed in the past. We were going through a lot of Tipp-Ex due to constant changes, and planners would constantly fight over the diary to check jobs, make new bookings, or cancel bookings.”
Switching to Eureka MoveIT completely transformed the way the business operates, and by upgrading to a digital way of working, alleviated many of the issues they had with manual management methods.
“Now, everything is just a click of a button,” describes Roman. “Each planner has their own diary page open in the system, so they can add, change, or cancel bookings without affecting others.”
By providing each transport planner with their own screen and system login, congestion in the transport office has been greatly reduced, allowing each user to complete their work with minimal disruption or delay.

This integration allows for TMS users to effortlessly communicate with drivers with the press of a button, sending job and delivery information, as well as receiving job status updates and delivery documentation, such as PODs.
“The Telegram app has helped massively with our communication,” explains Roman. “Instead of picking up the phone and calling drivers, we can instantly send delivery information to them. It’s saving us so much time and effort.”
Not only does the Telegram integration provide real-time instant messaging between the office and drivers, but it also offers a translation feature, helping to improve communication with drivers who aren’t fluent in English.
“It’s quicker and easier to find jobs, which means quicker solutions to any queries our customers might have.”
